Reckless Children

An elderly mother dies. She has 2 adopted children.

The adopted son is hard working and runs a cleaning business. The adopted daughter has had many issues with drugs and alcohol.

Prior to the mother’s death, she amends her Will to include a Testamentary trust for the adopted daughter, to hold the property in trust until daughter turns 50 years of age. The Mother appoints her Cousin as the trustee.

Following the mother’s death, her adopted daughter engages dangerously with substance abuse. The daughter then rehabilitates in her 40’s to a more manageable level. The daughter then receives her inheritance at 50.

When the Widower eventually dies, the girlfriend receives all the property that has been preserved and accumulated by the Widower’s adult children.
